Nau mai, welcome to Nelson Jewellery Week (NJW), a celebration of contemporary jewellery, for Makers, Wearers, and Viewers.
NJW invites you to explore stunning exhibitions, hands-on workshops, and a variety of special events, talks, and networking opportunities that challenge the boundaries of traditional jewellery.
Our 2025 workshops and events are now open for bookings!
This year we’re bringing you shows directly from Munich Jewellery Week, alongside incredible works from around the motu, including Goodness curated by Karl Fritz in collaboration with Lisa Walker and Peter Deckers, and KŌHA by Neke Moa, Sofia Tekela-Smith and Stevei Houkāmau, produced by Objectspace.
Proudly presented by Arts Council Nelson, Nelson Jewellery Week brings you an exciting programme from 10 April - 16 April 2025 in Whakatū Nelson. Immerse yourself in exhibitions by Aotearoa and Australian makers, workshops by celebrated jewellers, artist talks, and events such as the much loved Drinking About Jewellery and Pin Swap.
Nelson Jewellery Week was established by Arts Council Nelson in 2021, to expand the reach of contemporary jewellery in Aotearoa, creating an inclusive platform for makers of all levels—from beginners to internationally acclaimed artists—to connect, learn, and showcase their work.
Open days, talks, exhibition tours and kids activities. Our events programme is our accessible public offering with all events completely free and open to everyone. More events are to be confirmed, so watch this space.
Elevate your jewellery designs by learning new skills and techniques from the experts. Each of our workshops focuses on a material or method, taught by master tutors in small, focused groups over the course of one or more days.
EXHIBITIONS
Galleries across Nelson CBD host cutting edge exhibitions from some of the most exciting contemporary jewellery designers working today. The full exhibitions programme will be launched in February 2025. Watch this space!
